How to Clean Your Carpet
In spite of your most significant efforts at cleanliness, your carpet will ultimately become the victim of spills, accidents, and whatever you have on the soles of your shoes. To discover how the professionals manage problem areas and keep carpeting looking new, here are some tips from experts who have more than 25 years of expertise in carpet cleaning.
Dab stains with a cleaning solution, using a clean sponge or cloth. The idea is to blot and not rub.
Blotting places a little pressure on the stain to soak it up. Rubbing make the particles get grounded into the fibers and this leads to the premature breakdown of your carpet fibers. It is critical to remember to blot starting from the outside of the stain towards the inside. Blotting outward spreads the stain.
The Deal with Club Soda
You might have read somewhere that club soda is successful against wine and beer stains. This is 100% correct, only if it is done right.
Using a clean cloth, blot the area with club soda. If the stain isn’t gone, mix one part water and one part white vinegar and put the mixture into a spray bottle. Spray the stain with the solution and let it sit for up to 15 minutes. Afterwards, press the spot with a clean sponge or cloth to soak up the stain and the solution. If the stain is deep-seeded, you might have to repeat the process until the stain is gone. Once the stain is gone, cleanse the spot with warm water.
